Our little premie babies are doing so well with their developmental milestones. They are getting better head control and recognise our voices and love to look at their mummies faces. Today (Monday June 9th) at 3:45pm Ethan gave us his first real smiles! We loved it!! We were both there, and he smiled several times! Benji hasn't given us a real smile yet, but he's getting closer.
Well, the boys are definatly having a growth spurt. Late last week they were drinking 100mls every 3-4hours. Now (Monday), they are drinking 120-140mls every 3-4hours! They are much happier and more settled now we are feeding them more. Poor little loves were hungry!
Benji is still having issues with his skin. He has had very sensitive skin since birth, and at around 3weeks of age he developed the pimple like rash that newborns often get. The nurses said it was totally normal and not to worry about it and that it usually coveres their face and shoulders. It is still on his face, and over the last week has spread onto his belly and back. We are planning to take him to the family health clinic tomorrow just to get him checked out. One of Tracie's cousins has a 2yr old who had a rash like that when she was Benji's age. It turned out she was allergic to lots of things, and was an allergic reaction to the things her mother was eating (and she was getting through the breastmilk). We hope it's not the same with poor litle Benj.
